Job Description

The Assistant Shift Supervisor supports shift operations at a sustainable wood pellet manufacturing facility, ensuring production goals are met, maintaining safety and quality standards, and assisting with team training and coordination in a challenging industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Support the shift supervisor and ensure team meets production goals
Assist all team members in daily operations and fill in during absences
Train new hires as needed
Back up the team leader in pellet mill and hammermill operations
Monitor daily shift testing and communicate results to the team leader
Own and implement the 5S housekeeping procedures
Perform daily and weekly housekeeping to maintain safety and cleanliness standards
Escalate operational issues promptly for resolution

Requirements

Must demonstrate a mechanical aptitude
Ability to develop and maintain accurate records
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal job descriptions
Proficient in mathematics and measurements
High School degree or equivalent
Must be available to work any shift any day; required overtime is frequent
Must be able to work in environments that reach temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
Able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
Able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
Climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces on an occasional basis up to 100 ft
Must be able to push, pull and lift items up to 50 lbs
Able to frequently walk or stand and to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift items above shoulders on an occasional basis
Must use required provided PPE such as safety glasses, hard hat, steel toe boots, hearing protection
