Job Description
You take ownership of your work and hold the output to a high bar.
Key Responsibilities
- EnergyHub empowers utilities and their customers to build a cleaner, more distributed energy future — helping consumers turn smart thermostats, EVs, and batteries into virtual power plants that keep the grid stable and expand renewable capacity.
- We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join a growing Finance team at an exciting moment in EnergyHub’s evolution. You'll own key pieces of our close process and financial reporting, serve as the accounting point of contact across both the EnergyHub team and our parent company Alarm.com (Nasdaq: ALRM), and have genuine influence over how our accounting function evolves.
- This is a role for someone who holds themselves to a high standard, communicates clearly across teams, and wants their work to matter beyond the month-end close.
- Lead EnergyHub's month-end close process — journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared with accuracy and on time
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports in compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Review and evaluate contracts for revenue recognition under ASC 606, working closely with program managers to ensure key terms are captured correctly
- Support external audits, including preparation of workpapers and direct coordination with auditors
- Assist with accounts receivable and invoicing processes, including coordination with customer success and operations teams to resolve open items
- Partner with FP&A on monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting
- Serve as the liaison between EnergyHub and Alarm.com corporate accounting — translating, escalating, and keeping both sides aligned
- Support SOX compliance requirements as part of our public company reporting environment
- Explain accounting requirements and the why behind them to non-accounting stakeholders — clearly, without jargon
- Identify process gaps and build scalable solutions that improve how we operate
Benefits & Perks
- Collaborate with outstanding people: Our employees work hard, do great work, and enjoy collaborating and learning from each other.
- Make an immediate impact: New employees can expect to be given real responsibility for bringing new technologies to the marketplace. You are empowered to perform as soon as you join the team!
- Gain well rounded experience: EnergyHub offers a diverse and dynamic environment where you will get the chance to work directly with executives and develop expertise across multiple areas of the business.
- Work with the latest technologies: You'll gain exposure to a broad spectrum of IoT, SaaS and machine learning obstacles, including distributed fault-tolerance, device control optimization, and process modeling to support scalable interaction with disparate downstream APIs.
- Be part of something important: Help create the future of how energy is produced and consumed. Make a positive impact on our climate.
- EnergyHub offers a generous benefits package including 100% paid medical for employees and a 401(k) with employer match. We offer a casual environment, the flexibility to set your own schedule, a fully stocked fridge and pantry, free Citi Bike membership, secure bike rack, gym subsidy, paid parental leave, and an education assistance program.
