Job Description

The Data Center Engineer is responsible for maintaining the operational readiness, safety, and compliance of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems in a mission-critical, high-availability data center environment, supporting continuous uptime and system redundancy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain electrical systems including UPS, switchgear, transformers, generators, fuel cells, and BESS.
  • Operate and maintain critical cooling systems such as rear-door heat exchangers, CDUs, and direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems.
  • Support and execute change management procedures including drafting, reviewing, and implementing MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs.
  • Monitor system health, load distribution, thermal performance, and system redundancy.
  • Support incident response, recovery activities, and validate system performance post-maintenance.
  • Ensure safety and security compliance by enforcing safety standards and supporting site access control.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, labeling, and system diagrams; capture validation data and post-event reports.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in mission-critical facilities or data center operations.
  • Working knowledge of medium and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Experience with critical cooling infrastructure, including liquid cooling systems, rear-door heat exchangers, CDU-based systems, or direct-to-chip environments.
  • Familiarity with structured change management processes such as MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs.
  • Experience supporting or working in audited or regulated environments, such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001 standards.
  • Ability to operate and maintain electrical systems including UPS systems, switchgear, transformers, PDUs, generators, fuel cells, and BESS as applicable.
  • Ability to operate and maintain critical cooling systems, both air and liquid-based, supporting environments utilizing rear-door heat exchangers, CDUs, and direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems.
  • Ability to support switching activities under approved MOPs.
  • Ability to monitor load distribution, system redundancy health, thermal performance, delta-T, flow rates, and capacity utilization.
  • Ability to validate restoration of redundancy following maintenance events and assess operational impact of cooling system maintenance or failure conditions.
  • Ability to support incident response and recovery activities.
  • Ability to draft, review, and execute MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs, and participate in risk assessments and pre-task planning.
  • Ability to maintain accurate as-built documentation, labeling, and system diagrams.
  • Capability to capture validation evidence including alarms, trend data, and post-event reporting.
  • Knowledge of safety standards including LOTO and electrical safety standards.
  • Experience supporting site access control and vendor oversight.
  • Ability to maintain audit readiness aligned with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 controls.
  • Ability to participate in emergency response and disaster recovery exercises.
  • Strong procedural discipline, calm and methodical under pressure, and attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills and sound escalation judgment.
  • Commitment to safety and operational integrity.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Familiarity with alternative energy systems such as fuel cells, BESS, and microgrid environments is a plus.
