Job Description

The PLEXOS Modeling Consultant at E3 is responsible for applying production simulation and capacity expansion tools to analyze and forecast power market trends, contribute to client projects, and develop industry-leading energy models, all within a collaborative and innovative environment focused on clean energy policy and planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and lead client-facing interactions to identify project approaches and methods
  • Direct workstreams within projects and contribute to written reports and papers
  • Deliver findings, summaries, and presentations to clients and stakeholders
  • Perform investigative tasks, quality assurance, and control of modeling products
  • Become a technical lead on project needs and flagship modeling tools

Requirements

  • Possess strong analytical dexterity and/or policy experience with integrity and a passion for energy.
  • Ability to examine, research, and offer creative solutions to complex energy issues.
  • Curiosity and ability to thrive in a rigorous and quantitative solution-finding environment.
  • Proactive approach to assisting the team and contributing to project work.
  • Experience in clearly presenting information to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Inquisitiveness and ability to consider all sides of an issue to make informed recommendations with confidence and clarity.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills to create and implement work plans that are efficient and provide guidance to serve customers.
  • Ability to assist and/or lead client-facing interactions and identify approaches and methods for project tasks.
  • Experience in directing workstreams within projects and contributing heavily to written reports and papers.
  • Ability to deliver findings and summaries to customers, including making presentations and replying to questions.
  • Experience with performing investigative tasks, core QA/QC of products, and becoming a technical head on various project needs or flagship modeling tools.
  • Educational background or experience relevant to energy modeling, policy, or related fields (implied but not explicitly specified).
  • Ability to work full-time in an exempt status, with a hybrid work schedule from offices in San Francisco, New York, Boston, Calgary, or Denver.
  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours in front of a computer screen and conduct meetings via telephone and virtual platforms.
  • Commitment to professional growth through participation in onboarding, training programs, and ongoing development initiatives.
  • Availability to participate in the full hiring process, including phone interviews, technical exercises, and multiple interviews, with a timeline of approximately 6-8 weeks.
