Job Description
The Battery Test Engineer will perform hands-on testing and analysis of zinc-air battery cells, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and safety standards are met, while supporting product development and validation efforts in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, schedule, execute, and report on zinc-air battery cell tests, including charge-discharge cycles.
- Collaborate with technicians to perform hands-on testing and document testing incidents and observations.
- Collect, analyze, and report test data ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Participate in or lead structured problem-solving activities to identify root causes and resolve issues.
- Evaluate non-standard test requests and recommend modifications to test procedures.
- Maintain and calibrate test equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
- Support product development and validation by collaborating with R&D, quality, and manufacturing teams.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry best practices in battery testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in testing electro-mechanical systems, battery modules, or battery packs.
- Experience working in an IATF 16949 environment is an asset.
- Testing experience in a high-volume, high-reliability environment, such as automotive or medical equipment, is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in methodologies like 8D, Red-X, Six Sigma, etc.
- Proficiency in data acquisition, analysis, and reporting tools.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications and develop test plans accordingly.
- Knowledge of safety standards and best practices related to battery testing.
- Familiarity with environmental and mechanical stress testing of batteries.
- Knowledge of automation in battery testing and data logging systems.
- Ability to work directly with technicians on the floor to execute hands-on testing and objectively document testing incidents and relevant observations.
- Experience working with various dangerous materials, including corrosive liquids.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and report test data while ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Ensure all testing activities align with agreed-upon acceptance criteria and maintain objectivity in reporting.
- Maintain and calibrate or schedule calibration with external services for test equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
