Job Description
A senior reservoir engineer responsible for developing and analyzing reservoir models for CO2 storage projects, assessing risks, optimizing injection schemes, and supporting regulatory and technical decisions in the CCS and CDR space.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine dynamic reservoir models for CO2 storage in saline aquifers and mineralization applications.
- Use advanced simulation software to optimize CO2 injection schemes and forecast plume behavior.
- Analyze data to screen and select suitable CO2 injection sites and evaluate storage performance.
- Assess and quantify risks to long-term CO2 containment, and develop monitoring and mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to regulatory submissions related to CO2 storage projects.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations of reservoir modeling findings for regulatory and internal use.
- Stay current with reservoir engineering practices and simulation tools to improve modeling approaches.
- Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, engineers, and MMV specialists to ensure successful project implementation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer designation P.Eng with a Canadian engineering association.
- 10 years of engineering experience with noteworthy experience in a reservoir engineering role.
- Significant experience with at least one reservoir modeling software.
- Experience with advanced modeling such as geomechanical, reactive-transport, etc. would be considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to candidates experienced in injection operations and/or geological containment assurance such as CCS, disposal schemes, geothermal, SAGD, etc.
- An ability and willingness to learn new concepts and software tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
