Job Description
The Senior Associate at Cypress Creek Renewables supports project valuation, risk management, and investment decisions for solar and storage projects, involving financial modeling, market analysis, and transaction support within a high-growth renewable energy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project valuation efforts, including solar and storage asset valuation and project finance modeling
- Support development strategy and market entry by identifying project sensitivities and key value drivers
- Conduct quarterly portfolio valuation and solar development pipeline analysis
- Develop investment recommendation memos evaluating project risk and return profiles
- Perform market research, competitive analysis, and power market forecasting
- Support project financings and asset acquisitions or sales through transaction analysis
- Own underwriting assumptions by consolidating information, building consensus, and communicating with stakeholders
- Supervise junior team members and improve processes to enhance team efficiency
- Collaborate with engineering, development, and fleet teams to develop valuation theses for key markets
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- At least 4-6 years of experience in renewable energy finance or project valuation, investment banking, project finance, or corporate M&A.
- Deep knowledge of energy markets and renewable energy technologies, with a focus on solar and storage.
- Thorough understanding of discounted cash flow valuation concepts and debt, tax equity financing structures.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial analysis to non-financial stakeholders.
- Exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills, and demonstrated skill working with unstructured datasets.
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Organized, diligent, and able to manage multiple streams of information on an ongoing basis.
- Located or able to relocate to Santa Monica or San Francisco.
- Experience with project valuation, project finance modeling, and supporting development strategy and market entry.
- Experience supporting transaction activities such as project financings, asset acquisitions, or sales.
- Ownership of underwriting assumptions, including consolidation of information from internal experts, consensus building, and communication to executive team.
