Job Description

A Project Developer at Cypress Creek Renewables manages the development of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, overseeing activities from site acquisition to permitting, interconnection, and project financing, while coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead development activities from greenfield to NTP, including site acquisition, permitting, interconnection, engineering, survey, environmental, offtake, and policy coordination.
  • Support greenfield development and site acquisition by identifying interconnection points and coordinating with land agents, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Track and report project data related to budget, schedule, and deliverables to ensure milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Gather market intelligence and build relationships with government agencies, utilities, and market participants to inform development and permitting processes.
  • Prepare land use permitting applications, execute permitting strategies, manage consultants, and represent projects at permitting meetings and hearings.
  • Review and manage project contract compliance, including leases, interconnection agreements, and power purchase agreements.
  • Build strategic relationships with development, finance, and EPC partners.
  • Support market and business development efforts, including offtake origination and securing PPAs.

Requirements

  • Four-year Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as business finance, urban regional planning, civil electrical power systems engineering, landscape architecture, architectural sciences, or environmental sciences.
  • Energy, environmental, urban planning, engineering, or business related Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 3-7 years experience in renewable energy project development.
  • Familiarity with Western U.S. energy markets and permitting frameworks, including California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada policy landscapes.
  • Sound project management, budgeting, organizational, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders across varying timelines and priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to self-start in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results-driven and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Ability to support development activities from greenfield to Notice to Proceed (NTP) by working with internal teams on site acquisition, real estate and title, permitting, interconnection, engineering, survey, environmental, offtake, and policy.
  • Experience supporting greenfield development and site acquisition by identifying viable interconnection points and coordinating with land agents, consultants, and internal site acquisition teams.
  • Ability to prioritize, coordinate, review, and track key development deliverables with internal teams and external legal, zoning, environmental, interconnection, and engineering consultants.
  • Experience managing and reporting project data related to budget, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Ability to achieve development milestones on time and on budget to successfully advance projects to financing and construction.
  • Experience gathering market intelligence and expanding relationships with government agencies, utilities, and other market participants to inform and refine project development and permitting processes.
  • Experience preparing and submitting land use permitting applications, executing permitting strategies, managing consultants, and attending and presenting at permitting meetings and hearings.
  • Experience reviewing and managing project contract compliance for contracts including leases, interconnection agreements, and power purchase agreements.
  • Ability to build strategic relationships with development, finance, and EPC partners.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to visit project sites and other Cypress Creek offices.
  • Ability to support market and business development efforts related to development functional areas in the market.
  • Physical ability to travel and visit project sites as required.
