A construction site manager oversees the daily operations of utility-scale solar or energy storage projects, ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion while managing contractors, resources, and stakeholder communications.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily construction site operations, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
Manage and monitor third-party contractors, vendors, and construction contracts for conformance to requirements.
Coordinate project activities during commissioning, training, and turnover to operations and maintenance teams.
Supervise site-based personnel and verify completion of construction milestones.
Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, government agencies, and utilities.
Ensure environmental, health, and safety compliance and report on project status.
Oversee civil, electrical, and substation construction activities, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards.
Conduct site inspections, document progress, and address technical issues promptly.
Manage substation and energy storage system commissioning activities and ensure seamless integration.
Implement quality control measures and lead project meetings to facilitate communication and progress tracking.
Requirements
7-10 years of onsite, utility-scale solar construction or quality management experience
Advanced knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV), high voltage (HV), or energy storage construction management processes, means, and methods
Ability to read building product specifications, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
Prior quality control and quality assurance experience highly preferred
Knowledge and experience with photovoltaic and energy storage systems
Experience administering construction contracts
Undergraduate degree preferred, but not required
Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
Advanced knowledge of safety practices and procedures, OSHA 30 Certified
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and ProCore software
Willing to be on jobsites daily
Expected to travel 80-100% of the time
