Job Description
The role involves working within the Government Affairs team at Cypress Creek Renewables to drive state regulatory and legislative outcomes that support the company's infrastructure development in the Carolinas and potentially other Southeast states. The position requires a strong regulatory background and experience in policy development, coalition building, and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and lead the development and implementation of state regulatory and legislative policy strategies.
- Engage in state regulatory matters, including integrated resource plans.
- Identify and manage strategic relationships with state officials and staff.
- Inform and educate internal departments on state-level policies impacting CCR.
- Engage with trade associations and build coalitions to advocate for CCR's business objectives.
- Manage lobbyists and external consultants to influence legislative and regulatory outcomes.
- Support local permitting decisions for CCR's projects.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree required.
- 5 years of experience in energy policy.
- 5 years of state regulatory and/or legislative experience with a clear track record of success executing on policy campaigns.
- Experience managing and working collaboratively with lobbyists, trade associations, other businesses, and consultants.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive external partnerships, including ones with trade associations, other companies, and lawmakers.
- Direct experience in project development experience with a utility and/or government agency.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to synthesize and effectively communicate the results into conclusions and recommendations.
- Self-motivated and driven with a high level of initiative.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and diligent.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced business environment, and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Located within North Carolina, proximity to state capitol preferred.
