Job Description
The Array Service Technician is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on solar photovoltaic systems, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of solar assets across various sites, primarily through travel and fieldwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance activities on solar PV systems
- Troubleshoot, test, and repair PV systems in response to corrective maintenance cases
- Conduct on-site testing including polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding, communication, insulation resistance, and I-V curve tracing
- Maintain tools, meters, vehicles, and spare parts inventory
- Create service reports and document system issues
- Identify and eliminate safety hazards on-site
Requirements
- Perform required preventative maintenance activities on solar PV systems, including on-site routine maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair of solar photovoltaic facilities.
- Respond to corrective maintenance cases to troubleshoot, test, and repair PV systems.
- Conduct DC and AC testing such as polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, communication, insulation resistance testing, and I-V curve tracing.
- Maintain the vehicle, tools, meters, and truck stock used for maintenance activities.
- Create service reports and maintain spare parts inventory.
- Identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazards.
- Have diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found in solar PV systems.
- Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite.
- Hold a valid Driver's License.
- Complete OSHA 10 HR Training.
- Follow NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the workplace.
- Have the ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends, and up to 80 overnight trips.
- Work environment includes performing work in the field and in the office, with the ability to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- Wear PPE including hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, and hearing protection as required.
- Be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day.
- Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
