Job Description
The Material Handler is responsible for tracking, organizing, and moving turbine engine parts through repair processes in a modern aerospace manufacturing environment, supporting production control and ensuring timely delivery and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Track parts through repair processes and organize storage areas
- Monitor completion times to increase throughput
- Pick up and deliver parts between departments and buildings
- Assist shipping and receiving with delivery of parts
- Physically move parts using hoists, slings, carts, or handling methods
- Use electronic tracking systems, including RFID technology, for part identification and location
- Provide skids, carts, or racks to departments based on workload
- Verify and organize staging areas, ensuring part details match
- Coordinate part scrapping with relevant personnel
- Support production scheduling and prioritize parts for departments
Requirements
- One year's experience in a manufacturing environment or similar.
- Experience in the use of skids, pallet jacks, and forklifts lift trucks.
- Ability or experience following directions and reading work instructions.
- Demonstrated ability or experience in being able to effectively communicate with team members, including participating in structured training.
- High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
- Careful attention to detail.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks.
- Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Work in accordance with established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Physically move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
- Use powered and non-powered hand tools frequently.
- Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
- Work in difficult positions from time to time, standing or sitting for portions of the shift.
