Job Description

The Automated Weld Technician is an entry-level position responsible for performing automated welding operations on gas turbine engine components, primarily jet engine parts, while working under supervision to develop skills and ensure quality standards in a modern, climate-controlled environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow safety protocols and company safety policies
  • Read and interpret work instructions, drawings, and documents
  • Perform automated welding, weld prep, and weld finishing operations under supervision
  • Inspect work for quality and completeness, ensuring weld quality standards are met
  • Assist in training in automated welding disciplines under the guidance of a skilled welder trainer

Requirements

  • Completion of technical school and/or a minimum of one year of welding experience.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions accurately, including reading and interpretation of shop drawings and diagrams.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task while adhering to a high attention to detail standards.
  • Shown a previous ability to successfully pass skill level tests in other trades or disciplines.
  • Must be able to pass a vision test and fitness-for-duty test.
  • Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Work in varying positions from time to time, including standing and sitting for portions of the shift.
  • Ability to move parts weighing 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
  • Ability to move less heavy parts weighing 50 pounds with or without hoists, slings, or carts.
  • Occasionally use powered and hand-held tools.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical operations, including working with decimals, fractions, and basic geometry.
