Job Description

The Sr. Manager, Gas Power Engineering is responsible for providing technical leadership and project management for natural gas-fired power generation projects, ensuring successful delivery while maintaining safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of natural gas-fired power generation projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders including internal teams, contractors, regulators, and customers.
  • Manage project lifecycle activities such as feasibility studies, air permitting, engineering design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
  • Oversee and review engineering design packages to ensure compliance with industry codes, environmental regulations, and company standards.
  • Manage external consultants and collaborate with internal teams to support project development and construction.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and risk management plans.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are integrated throughout all project phases.
  • Provide technical expertise on natural gas turbines, combined cycle systems, HRSGs, and balance of plant systems.
  • Coordinate with grid operators, regulatory agencies, and permitting authorities to secure approvals and ensure compliance.
  • Develop standards, processes, and best practices for gas generation project design and implementation.
  • Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and best practices across projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in power generation, with significant expertise in natural gas fired technologies such as simple cycle, combined cycle, or cogeneration.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.
  • Proven track record managing large, complex engineering construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of gas turbine technology, thermodynamics, plant operations, and system integration.
  • Excellent project management skills, with experience in schedule, budget, and risk management.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with senior leadership, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to work in the Salt Lake City, UT or Dana Point, CA office a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
