Job Description
The Director of Market Operations Optimization at Copia Power will oversee the optimization and risk management of utility-scale battery energy storage projects, focusing on developing effective bidding strategies and supporting offtake strategies. This role involves collaboration with various internal teams to ensure project delivery and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee optimization and risk management of utility-scale battery energy storage projects.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize efficiency and profitability of storage assets.
- Contribute to the development of bid and offer curves for storage assets.
- Manage third-party scheduling coordinators and energy managers.
- Oversee daily reports and model results interpretation.
- Provide technical expertise and market insights for offtake contract negotiations.
- Enhance market intelligence to refine bidding strategies.
- Analyze market congestion issues and perform historical data research.
- Stay updated on market trends, ISO protocols, and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with internal teams for cohesive energy market participation.
- Develop tools to optimize expected generation of storage and hybrid projects.
- Incorporate operational performance and market dynamics into model assumptions.
Requirements
- 10 or more years of experience in the renewable energy industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
- Demonstrated team building and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated experience in energy markets.
- Strong quantitative skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and external parties.
- Ability to maintain a safe-conscious work environment by following Copia's established safety protocols and safe work practices.
- Demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
- Demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
- Team player and can collaborate with other teams and leaders in the organization.
- Ability to work out of a Copia hub location a minimum of 3 days per week.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
