The Lead Instrument and Control Valve Commissioning Technician is responsible for installing, calibrating, testing, and troubleshooting sensing and control equipment across various process systems, while also managing team operations, resources, and professional development within a fast-paced fusion energy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Install, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot sensing and control equipment for various process systems.
Manage and prioritize workload using the team's JIRA board.
Assist in resource planning and workload distribution for the team.
Support the creation of training programs, career development plans, and interview materials for team members.
Requirements
Experience as an Instrumentation and Control Valve Installation and Commissioning Technician with demonstrated ability to install, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot sensing and control equipment for a variety of components from multiple manufacturers.
Experience working with process systems including cooling water, HVAC, cryogenic fluids, ultra-high vacuum, various types of gases, and radiation monitoring.
Knowledge of equipment types such as temperature, flow, level sensors, air operated valves, sensors measuring cryogenic temperatures as low as 8 Kelvin, vacuum systems in the micro-Torr range, and flow control devices like piezo control valves.
Ability to work with component interfaces including hardwired connections, Profibus DP and PA, Profinet, Modbus, BacNET, and possibly other communication protocols.
Proven experience in installation, calibration, commissioning testing, and troubleshooting of sensing and control equipment in complex process environments.
Ability to manage and maintain the team’s JIRA board and handle day-to-day workload administration.
Experience assisting with resource loading and planning, including helping the manager with resource management tasks.
Ability to help assign priorities and ensure proper coverage for the team’s workload.
Experience in creating or assisting with team training programs, career roadmaps, promotion criteria, and interview materials.
Legal and compliance knowledge to ensure adherence to U.S. export control laws concerning controlled or protected technologies or information.
Willingness to work onsite at the CFS facility.
