Job Description

The Fiber Optic Specialist is responsible for assisting research and development and production teams with optical fiber tasks, including splicing, testing, and integrating fibers into complex designs, while ensuring minimal damage and effective maintenance of equipment. This role requires collaboration with various departments to achieve operational goals within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist R&D and production staff with optical fiber work, including splicing and testing.
  • Incorporate fibers into complex design features while minimizing damage and attenuation.
  • Ensure functional operation and preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments to meet goals and objectives.
  • Participate in a multi-disciplinary team and communicate clearly with team members.

Requirements

  • Experience in optical fiber work, including fiber splicing and testing.
  • Ability to incorporate fibers into complex design features while minimizing damage and attenuation to the fiber throughout its lifetime.
  • Ensuring functional operation and preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Experience in continuous improvement processes.
  • Ability to work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments to ensure goals and objectives are met.
  • Participation and clear, concise communication while working within a multi-disciplinary team of technicians and engineers.
