Job Description
The Diagnostician will support the design, fabrication, assembly, and commissioning of diagnostic systems for the SPARC tokamak, working as part of an integrated team to deliver measurements critical for plasma control and scientific data collection in fusion energy research.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete back-end design of diagnostic systems for the SPARC tokamak.
- Support the fabrication, assembly, and commissioning of diagnostic subsystems.
- Operate and utilize diagnostic systems to control plasma and collect scientific data.
- Collaborate with team members and external partners to deliver measurements within tight timelines.
- Support multiple diagnostic systems including magnetics, interferometry, spectroscopy, imaging, bolometry, neutron detection, Thomson scattering, electron cyclotron emission, reflectometry, Langmuir probes, and temperature/strain sensing.
Requirements
- Candidates must have experience working as part of an integrated diagnostic team supporting all major diagnostic systems, including magnetics, interferometry, neutral pressure, x-ray to visible spectroscopy, camera imaging, bolometry, neutrons, Thomson scattering, electron cyclotron emission, reflectometry, Langmuir probes, and structural temperature and strain sensing.
