Job Description
The Associate R&D Test Engineer at Commonwealth Fusion Systems is responsible for executing tests and projects related to high-temperature superconducting magnets, requiring a blend of mechanical, electrical, materials, fluids, and software engineering skills. This role involves designing, building, and commissioning equipment while collaborating across various teams to ensure successful test campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
- Test and retire risks for CFS's HTS magnets
- Operate test stands for magnet performance verification
- Design, build, and commission equipment and software for testing
- Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, procurement, and SPARC teams
- Challenge requirements, risks, and test objectives to reach consensus
Requirements
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical, electrical, materials, fluids, and software engineering, or some combination thereof.
- Responsible for the design, build, and commissioning of equipment and/or software in support of development, qualification, and production test objectives.
- Work collaboratively across manufacturing, R&D, procurement, and SPARC teams to achieve test campaigns.
- Ability to push and challenge the requirements, risks, and test objectives to help stakeholders reach consensus.
- Onsite work required 5 days per week.
