Job Description

The Senior Project Development Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the development of commercial solar projects from late-stage origination to operational status, working with internal teams and external partners to ensure project milestones are met efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the development activities, processes, and documentation to bring solar projects to Notice to Proceed (NTP) and Commercial Operation Date (COD).
  • Maintain and manage relationships with clients, property owners, utilities, and external partners to facilitate project progression.
  • Drive the execution of development-related agreements such as PPAs, site control, LNTP, and ESA.
  • Support the preparation and submission of development documentation, including interconnection, incentive applications, and permitting.
  • Manage project development schedules, deadlines, and ensure operational efficiency within the development team.
  • Assist in securing local, state, and federal solar rebates and incentives.
  • Manage subcontractors and service providers to complete development activities.
  • Prepare final investment and NTP packages for management approval.
  • Track project progress and report to management on key milestones and development status.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of total experience with at least 3 years of experience in commercial industrial (C I) solar project development, developing projects from sales through achieving Notice to Proceed (NTP).
  • Experience managing the development of commercial industrial (C I) photovoltaic (PV) rooftop, ground mount, and carport projects.
  • Experience developing projects with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and/or Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations.
  • Experience managing multiple projects at various stages simultaneously throughout the development life cycle.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized individual with the ability to manage development activities, processes, and documentation required to bring projects to NTP and Commercial Operation Date (COD).
  • Ability to facilitate the progression of projects from late-stage origination through NTP by coordinating development, due diligence, and internal approvals.
  • Ability to maintain and manage relationships with clients, building and landowners, providing regular updates and attending meetings as needed to move projects forward.
  • Experience coordinating and driving execution of development-related agreements such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Site Control, Letter of NTP (LNTP), Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), and other service providers.
  • Experience supporting the preparation and submittal of development documentation, including interconnection and incentive program applications, entity registrations, and permitting applications.
  • Ability to maintain project development schedules and deadlines throughout development and due diligence phases.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and service providers to complete various development-related activities.
  • Ability to prepare Final Investment Committee (FIC) and NTP packages for approval by management.
  • Experience supporting the Project Management team in creating close-out packages for major milestones such as Mechanical Completion (MC), NTP, and Final Completion.
  • Experience tracking project progress through standard reporting and reporting to management as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills to maintain and manage relationships with property owners, utilities, regulatory bodies, and external partners.
  • Willingness and ability to attend meetings on-site or in-office, with some travel as needed.
  • Proficiency in coordinating development activities with other team members such as Project Managers, Design, and Finance teams.
