Job Description
The Wind Intern assists in maintaining and repairing wind turbine components to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operation, gaining hands-on experience in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems at a wind farm.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in performing wind turbine mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical maintenance
- Document work performed, parts used, and time spent
- Troubleshoot and repair wind turbine components
- Perform annual maintenance, oil changes, and main component exchanges
- Maintain hand tools in good working order and organized
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment
Requirements
- Assist in the performance of wind turbine mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical component maintenance as part of the job responsibilities.
- Follow safety procedures, observe safe working practices, and maintain a safe working environment.
- Document all work performed, parts used, and time spent accurately.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repair, Annual Maintenance cycle, oil changes, and Main Component Exchanges.
- Maintain hand tools in good working order and well organized.
- Willingness to progress as a technician and take guidance from superiors.
- Able to climb towers unassisted up to 300 feet.
- Able to work standing outside the nacelle and nosecone at the top of the turbine.
- Able to work safely in a confined space.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
- Possess demonstrable mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge.
- Able to work with electrical wires and differentiate between color-coded wires.
- Able to safely work in a wide range of adverse climates and environments.
- Knowledge of and the ability to use various hand tools.
