Job Description
The Senior Development Engineer, Solar BESS is responsible for the preliminary design and technical scope development of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, managing resources to create optimized plant designs, cost estimates, and schedules. This role involves collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders to support project development and bidding processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical design and engineering for energy storage and utility-scale solar projects.
- Manage resources to prepare preliminary designs, performance estimates, cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments.
- Communicate and quantify preliminary site constraints, cost adders, and schedule risks.
- Provide optimized equipment selection and manage acquisition diligence requirements.
- Represent the company in meetings and negotiations with clients, developers, and regulatory authorities.
- Support RFP EPC contracting process with design basis development and bid analysis.
- Attend site walks for preliminary site assessments and scoping documentation.
- Manage internal business development programs and initiatives.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering, or a related subject
- 5 years of energy industry experience, including 2 years of direct EPC experience completing the detailed design, permitting, and construction of solar and/or energy storage projects
- Understanding of project design and optimization tradeoffs and familiarity with the current market, equipment suppliers, contractors, typical technical specifications, and costs
- Experience and understanding of standalone battery storage project design, optimization, suppliers, specifications, and costs
- Experience with project financing and independent engineer requirements
- Understanding of energy estimates, losses, assumptions, and standards
- Experience with review and negotiation of engineering, procurement, and construction contracts and technical exhibits for solar and/or energy storage facilities
- Experience managing consultants and contractors
- Working knowledge of relevant US and IEC equipment standards, codes, and construction practices
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to perform in a dynamic and collaborative working environment
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize work, and manage relationships with clients, colleagues, consultants, and contractors

Salary Range: 110,000 - 148,000 USD
