The Manager, Project Development is responsible for leading the full lifecycle development of renewable energy projects, including siting, permitting, interconnection, financing, and stakeholder engagement, to bring utility-scale solar, wind, and storage projects into operation across the Central region.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage renewable energy projects from proposal through to construction and commercial operation.
Conduct due diligence, site evaluation, permitting, interconnection, and stakeholder engagement for project development.
Negotiate and oversee project contracts including PPAs, GIAs, EPC, and equipment supply agreements.
Coordinate with engineering and external consultants on site layouts, technology options, and transmission studies.
Lead project financing efforts, including securing equity, tax equity, and debt commitments.
Market and promote projects for power purchase agreements and offtake opportunities.
Create and manage project budgets, schedules, and internal review processes.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, environmental science, or a related field is required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the renewable energy industry in the U.S., with direct experience in full life-cycle development of utility-scale solar and or wind projects.
Experience and familiarity with all facets of land development including landowner engagement and negotiation, contracting, title resolution, subdivision, agricultural land use, water restrictions, land ALTA surveys, GIS, and other real estate elements as required.
Experience managing project schedules and project budgets, as well as an understanding of key project value levers such as commercial and financial factors.
Experience managing cross-functional employee groups including project teams and external stakeholders such as agencies to execute on a project development strategy.
An understanding of the development life cycle of wind, solar, and storage projects is preferred.
Knowledge of governmental mandates, environmental regulations, or customer market signals that impact or facilitate new development of renewable projects in MISO, and or ERCOT and SPP markets.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to successfully communicate in all situations with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to manage simultaneous project work streams, set priorities, and exercise independent judgment.
Ability to travel as required up to 25%.
