The IT Desktop Support Technician provides technical support and troubleshooting for end-user hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring smooth operation of IT systems and assisting with deployment, maintenance, and documentation within a corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for end users.
Install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software.
Manage user accounts and permissions using Active Directory and Group Policy.
Support and resolve server and network issues, escalating to Tier 3 support as needed.
Provide first-level support via help desk ticketing system and escalate complex problems.
Imaging, deploying, and maintaining desktops and laptops for end users.
Participate in the deployment of new computer systems and application integration.
Assist in maintaining documentation, processes, and procedures for IT systems.
Support cybersecurity and compliance efforts by aligning processes with regulatory requirements.
Participate in planned maintenance activities and contribute to continuous process improvements.
Requirements
Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues for end users.
Experience supporting all end users relating to hardware and software, computer applications, and LAN-related issues.
Ability to install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and interrelated hardware and software.
Experience with Active Directory user management and assigning users to Group Policy Objects.
Responding to and supporting the resolution of server and network issues with Tier 3 support.
Providing 1st-level client support through a help desk ticketing system and recognizing and escalating more difficult problems to Tier 3 support.
Supporting a Microsoft Windows environment, including the Windows stack, Active Directory, and hosted Microsoft 365 (M365).
Using Remote Monitoring tools and call tracking to log and route tickets.
Imaging and deploying desktops and laptops for end users.
Creating and maintaining client-related documentation.
Participating as a strategic member of the technology team, including participating in team meetings and providing on-site support for remote IT Engineers.
Supporting the maintenance, updates, planning, and installation of client computers and application software.
Assisting in building automated workflows to improve processes through continuous improvement.
Supporting the deployment of new client computer systems and application integration to support business needs.
Assisting in the coordination of planned maintenance activities to ensure IT systems are properly implemented and maintained according to best practices.
Developing and maintaining proper processes, procedures, and system documentation according to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, including support for Microsoft 365.
Strong incident management and troubleshooting techniques.
Proficiency in IT procurement processes and procedures.
Strong customer service techniques in an IT environment.
Knowledge of the ITIL framework and experience with IT Service Management Software such as ServiceNow.
Ability to work well unsupervised and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer service at the executive level.
Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time and on short notice.
Participation in after-hours on-call rotation as necessary for problem resolution and project management installations.
A minimum of 1 year of experience supporting client-side IT infrastructure and software in an enterprise environment.
