Job Description
The Director of Construction is responsible for overseeing the construction management process, including planning, scheduling, project execution, and cost management, while ensuring projects are completed efficiently and in compliance with specifications. This role involves coordinating with stakeholders, managing contractors, and providing regular project status updates to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise construction management, planning, scheduling, project execution, and cost management.
- Connect with stakeholders to develop timelines and project deliverables.
- Identify project pinch points to avoid delays.
- Coordinate expectations and deliverables with vendors and internal resources.
- Develop project execution plans for 3rd party construction.
- Review plans and specifications for construction projects.
- Ensure accuracy of the scope of work.
- Define project purpose and scope, establish standards and protocols.
- Provide weekly and monthly status reports to the Vice President of Construction.
- Inspect properties under construction to ensure compliance with specifications, budget, and schedule.
- Maintain required construction records and ensure timely filing in the project document management system.
- Manage and report construction budget for each project.
- Evaluate and monitor performance of 3rd party contractors.
- Collaborate with business unit leaders to develop accurate budgets.
- Review and approve all invoices related to construction.
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of performance status reports.
- Track 3rd party contracts, including change orders and material inventory.
- Interface with AHJ to determine site requirements.
- Collaborate with Procurement to secure and screen vendors.
- Ensure compliance with client contracts, 3rd party contracts, and approved changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field from an accredited college or university required.
- 10 years of construction experience required.
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent efforts and provide high quality deliverables accurately and on time.
- Experience in supervising and/or managing direct reports including hiring, annual reviews, delivering constructive feedback and directing work of others.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customers.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications including performing financial and analytical computations in Excel.
- Detail oriented and adaptable to changing working requirements.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines and working together to achieve company-wide goals.
Benefits & Perks
Salary Range: $152,000 - $228,000 USD
Hybrid work schedule with office-based collaboration on Tuesdays and Thursdays
