Job Description
The Lead Analytical Scientist at Charm will oversee the development and operation of the analytical laboratory, conducting high-impact measurements and data analysis to support carbon removal initiatives, material characterization, and operational problem-solving in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development and management of the analytical laboratory to deliver high-impact measurements and data analysis.
- Continuously develop and refine measurement methods for characterizing Charm's materials and processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with scientists, engineers, and other teams to support business and operational goals.
- Plan, collect, and evaluate samples from various business activities such as biomass processing, pyrolysis, and injection.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on chemical principles and sampling methods to inform research, sales, and production strategies.
Requirements
- Experience leading the development and management of an analytical laboratory, including delivering high impact measurements and data conclusions for a scientific organization.
- Proven ability to continuously develop and refine measurement methods in a laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of chemical principles, sampling methods, and the ability to plan, collect, and evaluate samples captured throughout business activities such as biomass, pyrolysis, and injection.
- Experience functioning as a subject matter expert on chemical principles and sampling methods.
- Ability to influence strategy around how studies are conducted, how problems are quantified, and how solutions are developed using subject matter expertise.
- Experience collaborating closely with scientists, engineers, and cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, measurement reporting, verification, and development organizations.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, collecting, and evaluating samples from various business activities including biomass, pyrolysis, and injection processes.
- Ability to contribute to unlocking real-world carbon dioxide removals and discovering and characterizing new behaviors of materials relevant to the company's mission.
- Educational background or experience sufficient to serve as a subject matter expert in chemical principles and sampling methods (specific degree requirements are not explicitly stated but implied).
