The position involves analyzing source code, software, and hardware to support intellectual property litigation and disputes involving complex technology, utilizing technical expertise to investigate, interpret, and communicate findings effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct detailed investigations of source code and systems related to intellectual property disputes
Support counsel and clients by analyzing technical evidence such as source code, database schemas, and system configurations
Assist in preparing expert reports and declarations detailing technical and analytical findings
Implement quality control measures to ensure the reliability of analysis and manage associated risks
Participate in practice-building activities including recruiting and training team members
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other programming-focused discipline, advanced degree preferred
2-5 years of related work experience
Experience and deep understanding of programming languages including C, Java, or Python
Strong understanding of source code analysis, binary reverse engineering, and or hardware functional testing techniques
Familiarity with analytical tools e.g., SciTools used to visualize and understand software code
Understanding of database administration and software development models such as SDLC, Agile, etc.
Experience with drafting technical and investigative reports and communicating technical findings
Ability to conduct detailed investigations of source code and systems in the context of alleged copyright infringement, patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, software failure, and software audit matters
Ability to leverage technical and consulting expertise to support counsel and clients in intellectual property litigation or disputes involving complex technology
Ability to analyze and inspect source code, database schemas, system configurations, technical documentation, and other sources of technical evidence typically produced in the context of intellectual property litigation
Ability to assist with the preparation of expert reports and declarations describing technical and analytical findings
Ability to ensure reliability of analysis and risk management through implementing quality control measures and documentation
Willingness to proactively raise issues to keep projects running smoothly
Excellent written and oral communication skills
High level of initiative and ownership in work
Physical ability to work in an environment that may require periodic travel to client meetings or other CRA offices (at least 3 to 4 days a week in the office, with flexibility for remote work)
