The Associate Principal at CRA's Antitrust and Competition Economics practice conducts economic research, builds quantitative models, and provides expert analysis and testimony on antitrust and merger cases, working closely with clients, attorneys, and industry experts to deliver clear, fact-based economic solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct economic and financial research and analysis for antitrust and merger cases.
Develop and present client deliverables, including expert reports and summaries of opinions and recommendations.
Design and build complex economic and financial models to analyze data.
Perform regression analysis and program models using statistical software such as Stata, R, Python, or SAS.
Manage research processes and supervise, train, and mentor junior analysts.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of analyses and opinions provided.
Collaborate with academics, attorneys, and clients on economic, finance, and strategy issues.
Assist in preparing for judicial proceedings by providing economic analyses of competition matters.
Requirements
Strong achievement in an undergraduate degree program and graduate degree program.
Masters or PhD with focused study in economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering or another quantitative discipline.
Graduate degree plus 3-10 years of experience, consulting experience preferred.
Demonstrated understanding of economic concepts, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
Experience programming, model building, and regression analysis using languages such as Stata, R, Python, or SAS.
Ability to conduct research in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to act as a primary point of contact for clients and assist in the development and presentation of client deliverables including expert reports summarizing opinions, conclusions, and recommendations.
Ability to independently conceptualize and identify issues, design complex economic and financial models to analyze economic and financial data.
Experience managing the research process, supervising, training, and mentoring junior analysts.
Ensure the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions.
Work with those testifying in judicial proceedings to provide economic analyses of mergers and other competition matters before major competition authorities.
Minimal travel required, with the expectation to spend 3 to 4 days a week on average working in the office, including potential travel to other CRA offices or client locations.
