Job Description
A Solutions Architect for Automotive at Canonical is responsible for engaging with customers and partners to promote and implement open source solutions related to Linux, embedded systems, and cloud technologies in the automotive industry, providing technical expertise, presales support, and project delivery in a remote, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers during presales to gather requirements and explain technology solutions
- Collaborate with internal experts to develop comprehensive solutions for clients
- Participate in delivering projects related to Embedded Linux, including demos and proof of concepts
- Convey market requirements to internal stakeholders and contribute to solution development
- Act as a customer advocate and trusted advisor for Canonical's solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- Extensive Linux experience, with Debian or Ubuntu preferred
- Solid embedded Linux experience with Yocto or RTOS
- Fluency in Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
- Professional written and spoken English in addition to the local language
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Interest in customer-facing engagement, including pitching, demonstrating, and understanding customer environment and needs
- Result-oriented with the ability to multi-task
- A personal drive to meet commitments
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time for customer meetings, company events, and conferences
- Relevant experience in the Automotive industry
- Knowledge of low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware, and embedded software development methodologies
- Ability to engage customers during presales to gather requirements and explain technology
- Ability to liaise with other Canonical experts in Cloud, Kubernetes, Security, or Safety to develop comprehensive solutions
- Ability to participate in the delivery of projects related to Embedded Linux, including demos and PoCs
- Ability to convey market requirements to key stakeholders and participate in developing or refining solutions to unlock market potential
- Ability to act as a customer advocate and trusted advisor to Canonical
