The HR Generalist supports Canonical's global team by providing HR guidance, managing employee relations, benefits, and HR systems, and driving HR initiatives to foster a high-performance, inclusive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide HR guidance to team members and managers on performance and behavior expectations
Partner with line managers to advise on employee relations, policies, and procedures
Manage and process employee changes, onboarding, and departures accurately and timely
Oversee and develop benefit programs across specified regions
Coordinate with finance on payroll, projects, and inquiries
Support full HR lifecycle activities including onboarding, benefits administration, and offboarding
Automate administrative tasks through critical thinking and process improvements
Manage, develop, and advocate for the HR system and data reporting
Lead and participate in HR projects to drive initiatives and improvements
Support diversity and inclusion initiatives through internal resource groups
Create, update, and maintain global HR policies with local application
Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures across regions
Requirements
Provide HR guidance to team members and managers, setting high expectations of behaviour and performance.
Partner with line managers to provide employee relations advice on global policies and procedures.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness in processing employee changes, joiners and leavers.
Manage and drive benefit programs spanning either our EMEA UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Spain or AMER US, Canada and Brazil locations.
Liaise with our finance team on monthly payroll, projects and enquiries.
Support the full life-cycle of HR including onboarding, benefit administration, and departure.
Apply critical thinking to automate and reduce administrative tasks.
Take a lead role in the management, continued development, and integration of our HR system, acting as a system expert and advocate for the global HR team.
Produce data-driven reports to inform and influence HR initiatives.
Lead and participate in projects where you will see the impact of your work.
Support internal resource groups to drive initiatives such as diversity and inclusion.
Create, update, and maintain corporate policies that have a global lens with local application.
Ensure consistency of application of HR policies and procedures.
Hold an exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
Possess relevant professional qualification and certifications in HR.
Have excellent practical insights into either EMEA or AMER HR practices and employment laws.
Be a self-directed, organized problem solver with the ability to prioritize and meet goals and deadlines.
Demonstrate the ability to exercise discretion, sound judgement, tact, and diplomacy in all communications.
Have a fearless and principled approach to professional interactions at every level of the business with a commitment to confidentiality of sensitive information.
Be willing and able to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events, with at least one trip of two full working weeks.
