Job Description
This position involves working under a Licensed Architect to develop and coordinate technical aspects of architectural projects, including design, detailing, site visits, and team leadership, with a focus on quality, sustainability, and client communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to design, production, coordination, and detailing of architectural projects
- Prepare design sketches and site plans
- Coordinate engineering systems with consultants and team members
- Communicate project status, design intent, and updates to stakeholders
- Perform field site observations and visits
- Integrate sustainable and performance-based design strategies
- Ensure technical quality and compliance through QA/QC processes
- Supervise, train, and lead interns and junior team members
- Participate in team meetings and project leadership activities
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field required.
- Minimum 8 years of related professional experience required.
- Architectural Registration in Canada preferred.
- CDT and LEED accreditation preferred.
- Knowledge of building codes and requirements.
- Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
- Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work.
- Must be a critical thinker and highly analytical.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to independently contribute to design, production, coordination, and architectural detailing as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to prepare design sketches of moderate to complex site plans.
- Ability to assist in coordination of engineering systems with engineers and consultants.
- Ability to communicate project status, design intent, construction updates, and other critical information clearly and compellingly to owners, consultants, and clients.
- Ability to perform field site observations, including frequent physical walk-through of sites.
- Ability to facilitate integration of performance-based and sustainable design strategies into design solutions.
- Ability to enforce application of QA QC process standards and requirements while ensuring all statutory project requirements are achieved.
- Ability to supervise, monitor, train, and direct work of interns and less experienced team members.
- Ability to take a leadership role within the project team and in team meetings.
