Job Description
Assist in the design, analysis, and documentation of structural systems for various building types under the supervision of a licensed engineer, utilizing engineering software and BIM tools, with opportunities for field observations and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze structural systems for various building types under supervision
- Perform design calculations using engineering software
- Create BIM models and produce contract documents including plans, sections, and details
- Coordinate structural systems with overall building design
- Review shop drawings during construction
- Conduct field observations and site walkthroughs during construction
Requirements
- Master in Civil Engineering with Structural focus, Master in Structural Engineering or Master of Architectural Engineering Structural emphasis from an ABET accredited program is required by hire date.
- Related student internship work experience preferred.
- EIT (Engineer in Training) or LEED accreditation preferred.
- Must have strong communication, teamwork, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, RAM, and RISA required.
- Must be willing to perform overtime work.
- Perform design calculations under direct supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Use relevant engineering software to design and document structural systems.
- Use Autodesk Revit to develop BIM models for producing Contract Documents.
- Assist in production of Contract Documents including foundation plans, floor framing plans, roof plans, sections, details, and specifications.
- Interface effectively with members of the design team to coordinate structural systems with overall building design.
- Assist in review of shop drawings during construction phase.
- May perform field observations during construction phase, including a physical walk through of site.
