Job Description

This role involves developing and managing architectural specifications for complex building projects across various sectors, collaborating with project teams, mentoring staff, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes within a dynamic architectural firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write architectural specifications for complex projects across various building types.
  • Produce Project Manuals and author division-specific sections for inclusion in project documentation.
  • Manage multiple projects, deadlines, and milestones throughout project phases.
  • Review and revise technical specifications, Keynotes, and in-progress drawings for coordination and completeness.
  • Develop and improve master specifications, including specialized and sustainable content.
  • Mentor less experienced specification writers and coordinate with project disciplines.
  • Participate in project meetings and support during Construction Administration, including shop drawing and product substitution reviews.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop best practices and share knowledge in specification writing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors in compliance with firm policies.
  • Support the firm’s sustainability initiatives and standards development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or a relevant field required
  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience required in the architecture, engineering, or construction industry which must include a minimum of five 5 or more years of specifications writing experience
  • Current Architectural, Engineering license or CSI certification required
  • Significant California experience and expertise is essential
  • Advanced knowledge in discipline and focused areas including project delivery methods
  • Detailed understanding of Contracts and relationship to Division 00 01
  • Knowledge of building codes and construction techniques is required
  • Ability to perform Coordination QA QC across disciplines
  • Experience with Engineering Specifications a plus
  • Proficiency in specification editing software is required, with proficiency in e-SPECS for Revit preferred
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, including Teams and OneNote, as well as BlueBeam Revu
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud and MS Lists is preferred
