Job Description
This role involves leading high-level architectural projects for laboratory facilities, focusing on team and client leadership, developing innovative design solutions, and translating program needs into detailed construction documentation within the biotech and research space.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead high-level specialist role as a subject matter expert on S T projects, focusing on team and client leadership, mentoring, and improving work quality
- Develop innovative solutions and responses to evolving research needs within the industry
- Collaborate with project teams to provide technical expertise in programming and planning for projects
- Lead user group meetings to gather and refine program needs and assess space utilization
- Communicate planning concepts effectively to project teams, clients, and owners through reports and visualizations
- Translate planning concepts into project documentation, including architectural drawings and specifications
- Develop project scope, plans, and services during the contract process
- Incorporate sustainable design solutions into projects
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and provide guidance to team members
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or a related degree
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience performing as a subject matter expert on projects ranging from large, complex, or multiple projects for the S T market
- Previous experience in leading or managing projects in Vivarium, Biology, Chemistry, or Instrumentation lab spaces is preferred
- Knowledge of building codes and requirements
- Must have advanced knowledge in the discipline
- Must possess business acumen
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to be client facing
- Ability to lead less experienced team members
- Familiarity with Revit, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam software
- Ability to travel as project needs require, with up to 50% travel to the project site, other offices, client meetings, and stakeholder engagements
- Location preference for candidates local to the project site in San Francisco, CA, or willingness to travel up to 50%
- Licensure or registration in the United States is preferred
- LEED accreditation is preferred
