Job Description
This position involves providing high-level electrical engineering design, project management, and technical leadership for construction and renovation projects across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and commercial buildings, with a focus on healthcare facility planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical engineering systems design for building construction projects.
- Develop project designs, goals, and systems in collaboration with the team.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to designers and engineering staff.
- Lead or participate in project teamwork planning sessions and engineering meetings.
- Manage project engineering tasks, including adhering to financial and work goals.
- Design electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for various client sectors.
- Prepare construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Specify electrical equipment and review shop drawings and submittals.
- Conduct quality control checks and serve as an independent reviewer in QAQC processes.
- Collaborate with project managers to establish work plans, schedules, and ensure project success.
- Participate in value engineering sessions and recommend process improvements.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions, observe construction progress, and ensure compliance with codes.
- Respond to RFIs, review change orders, and oversee construction administration activities.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience in electrical engineering.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles and systems design.
- Ability to serve in QAQC process and as an independent reviewer for engineering documents.
- Experience preparing construction documents including drawings and specifications for electrical systems.
- Experience designing electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients in compliance with applicable codes.
- Ability to specify electrical equipment for building projects.
- Experience conducting quality control checks of engineering documents and reviewing shop drawings and submittals.
- Ability to respond to RFI’s and review change orders during the preparation of construction documents.
- Experience in project management responsibilities including establishing and maintaining work and labor plans, deliverable schedules, and adhering to financial and contractual obligations.
- Experience participating or leading value engineering sessions with architectural and engineering teams.
- Ability to interface effectively with clients and members of the design team.
- Ability to handle multiple projects effectively.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, SKM Power Tools.
- Ability to conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of sites.
- Knowledge of electrical and building codes applicable to building systems design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional business attire required for client meetings, including suits, ties, collared dress shirts, dresses, and skirts.
- Travel required for the position.
