A student intern role supporting the design and review of plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems in building projects, working under supervision and gaining experience in engineering design, BIM modeling, and site observation.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in designing plumbing fire protection systems under supervision.
Support the development of HVAC system designs, including ductwork, piping, controls, and equipment selection.
Contribute to Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings for plumbing and HVAC systems.
Review and markup shop drawing submittals.
Participate in site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
Requirements
Enrolled in and working toward a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs, specifically Revit MEP preferred.
Ability to perform uncomplicated designs of plumbing fire protection systems for building design under supervision.
Ability to assist with uncomplicated designs of ductwork, piping, controls, and equipment selection for HVAC systems for building design under supervision.
Ability to assist in Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings of plumbing fire protection and HVAC systems from Schematic Design to Construction Administration phases under supervision.
Ability to review and markup shop drawing submittals under supervision.
Willingness to visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs.
Availability to complete mandatory training, including compliance training, within required timeframes as a condition of employment.
