This position involves supporting the design and modeling of plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems for various building projects under supervision, including preparing construction drawings, reviewing submittals, and performing site visits, within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Perform designs of uncomplicated piping and equipment selection for Plumbing Fire Protection systems under supervision
Assist with HVAC system designs as needed
Prepare Revit BIM models of plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC construction drawings from schematic design to construction administration
Edit specifications related to projects
Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with contract documents
Research assigned issues and respond to emergent problems
Draft reports for review by a professional engineer
Gather information to respond to RFIs and review change orders
Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
Coordinate specific activities on project elements
Requirements
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
Minimum of 2 years of related experience required.
Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs, specifically Revit, required.
Ability to perform designs of uncomplicated piping and equipment selection for Plumbing Fire Protection systems for building design with appropriate supervision.
Ability to prepare Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings of plumbing and fire protection systems from schematic design to construction administration phases, including layout, sketches, and detail drawings, with supervisory oversight.
Ability to assist with HVAC designs as necessary.
Ability to review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with the contract documents.
Ability to research assigned issues and respond to emergent issues.
Ability to write draft reports to be reviewed by a professional engineer.
Ability to assist in gathering information to respond to RFIs and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
Ability to perform job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of sites.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Current PE license in Mechanical or FPE in the United States preferred.
LEED accreditation preferred.
