Job Description
This position involves designing and managing HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team on projects in various sectors such as education, healthcare, and commercial buildings. The role includes project management, technical modeling, site visits, and client interaction under the supervision of a licensed engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and direct HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection.
- Assist with plumbing and fire protection system designs as needed.
- Supervise or manage projects within the mechanical discipline, monitoring progress and budgets.
- Calculate heating and cooling loads, and design ductwork and piping layouts using energy modeling software.
- Create Revit BIM models of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems from schematic to construction phases.
- Research and specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
- Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions, observe construction progress, and participate in construction meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States preferred.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
- Must possess a working knowledge and experience in engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus, with ongoing higher level knowledge acquisition.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
