Job Description
This position involves designing and managing HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment selection, for various construction projects, while collaborating with clients and project teams, and overseeing project execution from design to construction.
Responsibilities
- •Design ductwork, piping, and select HVAC equipment independently on assigned projects
- •Assist with plumbing and fire protection system design as needed
- •Supervise or manage project activities within the mechanical discipline, including monitoring progress and budgets
- •Calculate heating and cooling loads, and design ductwork and piping layouts using energy modeling software
- •Create Revit BIM models of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems from schematic to construction phases
- •Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents
- •Interface with clients and project team members, attend meetings, and respond to RFIs and change orders
- •Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
- •Participate in construction meetings and coordinate work activities on projects
- •Contribute to business development and marketing activities
Requirements
- •Minimum of 6 years of related experience in mechanical design or engineering.
- •Bachelor degree from an ABET EAC accredited program or equivalent.
- •Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States is preferred.
- •Experience in designing HVAC systems, including performing and directing design of ductwork, piping, and equipment selection independently on assigned projects.
- •Ability to calculate heating and cooling loads, and to design ductwork and piping layouts using energy modeling software.
- •Proficiency in preparing Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings for HVAC systems from schematic design to construction administration phases, including layout, sketches, and detail drawings.
- •Ability to perform Revit BIM modeling for plumbing and fire protection systems as necessary.
- •Experience in editing specifications relating to existing or new projects.
- •Ability to independently research and respond to emergent issues as they arise.
- •Experience in specifying mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
- •Experience reviewing shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
- •Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- •Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- •Experience with computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Trane Trace, or Trane 3D Plus.
