Job Description
This position involves supporting the design and modeling of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for building projects under the supervision of a licensed engineer, utilizing software like Revit and energy modeling tools, and assisting with construction documentation and site visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform designs of uncomplicated piping and equipment selection for HVAC systems under supervision
- Assist with Plumbing and Fire Protection system designs as needed
- Prepare Building Load Calculations and energy models using modeling software under supervision
- Create Revit BIM models of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems from schematic to construction phases
- Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with contract documents
- Research and respond to emergent issues related to project design
- Draft reports for review by a professional engineer
- Gather information and assist in responding to RFIs and reviewing change orders
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
- Coordinate specific activities related to project elements
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience required.
- Experience in designing HVAC systems, including piping and equipment selection, for building projects.
- Ability to perform Building Load Calculations using modeling software under supervisory direction.
- Ability to prepare energy models using appropriate software with supervisory oversight.
- Proficiency in Revit BIM modeling for construction drawings of HVAC systems from schematic design to construction administration phases, including layout, sketches, and detail drawings, with supervisory oversight.
- Ability to perform Revit BIM modeling for plumbing and fire protection systems as necessary.
- Experience in reviewing submittals and shop drawings for compliance with contract documents.
- Experience in researching assigned issues and responding to emergent issues.
- Ability to write draft reports to be reviewed by a professional engineer.
- Experience in gathering information to respond to RFIs and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Ability to perform job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of sites.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to coordinate specific activities on particular elements of a project as assigned.
- Willingness to complete mandatory training, including compliance training, within required timeframes and adhere to internal policies and the Code of Conduct.
