Job Description
The role involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team under the direction of a licensed engineer, focusing on the design and management of HVAC systems for various construction projects, including educational and healthcare facilities. Responsibilities include performing design calculations, preparing Revit BIM models, supervising project activities, and ensuring compliance with specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and direct design of ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for HVAC systems.
- Assist with Plumbing and Fire Protection Designs as necessary.
- Supervise or provide project management direction within the mechanical discipline.
- Calculate heating and cooling loads, layout, and design ductwork and piping using energy modeling software.
- Prepare Revit BIM modeling of construction drawings of HVAC systems.
- Edit specifications relating to existing or new projects.
- Research and respond to emergent issues independently.
- Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and air handling units.
- Review shop drawings for compliance with specifications and contract documents.
- Interface with clients and project team members, attending relevant meetings.
- Respond to RFIs and review change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
- Coordinate work activities on specific projects with various team members.
- Participate in business development and marketing activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or Bachelor of Architectural Engineering Mechanical Systems focus from an ABET accredited program required.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
- Must possess a working knowledge and experience, while still acquiring higher level knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs i.e. Revit, Trane Trace or Trane 3D Plus required.
