Assist in the design and development of interior spaces through all project phases, including creating drawings, selecting furnishings, and supporting client and construction activities, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and gaining experience in interior design processes.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Senior Interior Designer and Project Manager in executing project goals across all phases including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration
Develop interior space designs through planning and three-dimensional studies
Create detailed drawings such as floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and details
Support in furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) selection, layout, and specifications
Produce drawings that meet project time, cost, and quality constraints
Research and apply building and life safety codes to interior design work
Prepare renderings and presentation materials
Participate in client meetings and construction administration activities including site visits and review of submittals
Mentor less experienced interior design staff and guide project document development
Requirements
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or relevant field required.
Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
Must be able to participate in the development of projects' technical or design characteristics and content.
Strong creative design portfolio is essential.
Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
Ability to assist Senior Interior Designer and/or Project Manager with project execution throughout all phases including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration.
Ability to independently assist in the design development and documentation of interior spaces, including drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, details, and pattern designs.
Ability to produce drawings in conformance with project time, cost, and quality constraints.
Ability to identify, research, and apply building and life safety codes to interior design work.
Ability to prepare renderings and presentation materials.
Ability to participate in client meetings with Senior Interior Designer to gain client interaction and presentation experience.
Ability to participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch list.
Physical ability to perform site visits which frequently require a walk-through of the site.
Ability to mentor less experienced interior design staff and provide guidance in the development of project documents.
Willingness to travel as required.
Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
