Job Description
This position involves assisting in the design and development of interior spaces through all project phases, including creating drawings, selecting furnishings, and participating in client meetings and construction administration activities within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Senior Interior Designer and Project Manager in executing project goals across all phases including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
- Develop interior space designs through planning and 3D studies, and produce detailed drawings such as floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and details.
- Support in furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) selection, layout, and specifications throughout project phases.
- Prepare renderings and presentation materials in accordance with project standards and codes.
- Participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch lists.
- Mentor less experienced staff and contribute to maintaining high design quality and proper material application.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or relevant field is required.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience is required.
- Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
- Must be able to participate in the development of projects' technical or design characteristics and content.
- Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite is required.
- Ability to assist Senior Interior Designer and/or Project Manager with the execution of project goals throughout all phases including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration.
- Ability to independently assist in the design development and documentation of interior spaces including drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, pattern designs, elevations, details, etc.
- Ability to produce drawings in conformance with project time, cost, and quality constraints.
- Ability to identify, research, and apply building and life safety codes to applicable interior design work.
- Ability to prepare renderings and other presentation materials.
- Ability to participate in client meetings with Senior Interior Designer to gain client interaction and presentation experience.
- Willingness to participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch list.
- Physical ability to conduct site visits which frequently require a physical walk-through of the site.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Ability to mentor less experienced interior design staff and provide guidance in the development of project documents.
- Strong communication, teamwork, presentation, graphics, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
