This internship offers students the opportunity to assist in all phases of interior design projects within a multidisciplinary architecture firm, gaining hands-on experience in design development, documentation, material selection, and site visits under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the design team in all project phases including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration.
Support furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) selections, layouts, and documentation throughout interior design phases.
Contribute to the design development and documentation of interior spaces, including drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, details, and room finishes.
Conduct research for product and finish selections and assist in developing finish plans and specifications.
Prepare computerized renderings and presentation materials.
Produce drawings and support project functions in accordance with project constraints and standards.
Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
Requirements
Must be enrolled in and working toward a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture from an accredited program.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to present ideas effectively.
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
Ability to assist with all project phases including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration under supervision.
Ability to assist with furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) selections, layouts, and documentation throughout all phases of interior design work.
Ability to assist in the design development and documentation of interior spaces, including drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, pattern plans, elevations, details, and room finishes.
Ability to conduct research for product and finish selections as directed.
Ability to assist in the development of finish plans and specifications.
Ability to prepare computerized renderings and other presentation materials.
Ability to produce drawings and support functions in conformance with project time, cost, and quality constraints.
Ability to follow CannonDesign drawing standards.
Willingness to maintain the Interior Design library by organizing and updating materials as determined by the office.
Willingness to order samples and materials from vendors.
Willingness to visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical site walk-throughs.
