Job Description

This internship offers students the opportunity to assist a multidisciplinary interior design team across all project phases, including design development, documentation, and site visits, while gaining hands-on experience in interior space planning, material selection, and presentation preparation under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the design team in all project phases including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration
  • Support furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) selections, layouts, and documentation throughout interior design phases
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of interior spaces, including drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and details
  • Conduct research for product and finish selections and assist in developing finish plans and specifications
  • Prepare computerized renderings and presentation materials
  • Produce drawings and support project tasks in accordance with time, cost, and quality constraints
  • Follow company drawing standards and maintain the Interior Design library as needed
  • Order samples and materials from vendors
  • Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in and working toward a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture from an accredited program.
  • Strong creative design portfolio.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong graphics skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to assist with all project phases including Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration under supervision.
  • Ability to assist with furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) selections, layouts, and documentation throughout all phases of interior design work.
  • Ability to assist in the design development and documentation of interior spaces, including drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, pattern plans, elevations, details, and room finishes.
  • Ability to conduct research for product and finish selections as directed.
  • Ability to assist in the development of finish plans and specifications.
  • Ability to assist in preparing computerized renderings and presentation materials.
  • Ability to produce drawings and support functions in conformance with project time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Ability to follow CannonDesign drawing standards.
  • Ability to maintain and organize the Interior Design library, including updating materials as determined by the office.
  • Ability to order samples and materials from vendors.
  • Willingness to visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs.
  • Ability to complete mandatory compliance training and adhere to internal policies and Code of Conduct as a condition of employment.
