Job Description
This position involves designing electrical systems for building projects across various sectors, leading project teams, preparing construction documents, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards, all under the supervision of a licensed engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project planning sessions and lead project engineering responsibilities
- Initiate and develop electrical system designs for building construction
- Prepare construction documents including drawings and specifications
- Guide team members in executing drawings and specify electrical equipment
- Perform quality control checks on engineering documents and layouts
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress
- Attend and participate in construction meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
- Experience in electrical systems design for building construction, including lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications, and telecommunication systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients.
- Ability to perform electrical engineering systems design and prepare construction documents including drawings and specifications.
- Experience in specifying electrical equipment and conducting quality control checks of engineering documents and layout systems.
- Ability to review and markup shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, and review change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Experience conducting job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-throughs of sites.
- Ability to attend and participate in construction meetings.
- Proficiency in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, and SKM Power Tools.
- Must be an independent thinker, analytical, and contribute to process development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously.
