Job Description
This position involves designing electrical systems for building projects, including lighting, power, communication, and fire alarm systems, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and ensuring compliance with electrical codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform construction drawings and specifications for electrical systems in building projects.
- Design lighting, power distribution, communication, and telecommunication systems for various clients.
- Analyze engineering documents and layout electrical system components.
- Research and resolve design issues related to electrical systems.
- Participate in value engineering sessions with the architectural engineering team.
- Apply electrical codes to building power distribution and circuiting design.
- Review and markup shop drawings and submittals.
- Assist in gathering information for RFIs and review change orders during construction.
- Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe construction progress.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit required.
- Designing electrical engineering systems including lighting, power distribution, communications, telecommunication systems, and fire alarm systems for healthcare, education, higher education, and commercial clients.
- Ability to perform basic to moderately complex construction drawings and specifications of electrical engineering systems for building construction.
- Knowledge of electrical code for the application of building power distribution design and circuiting.
- Ability to analyze engineering documents and layout systems regarding components and parts.
- Ability to research and respond to design issues.
- Participate in value engineering sessions with Architectural Engineering team.
- Assist in the review and markup of shop drawings and submittals.
- Assist in gathering information to respond to RFIs and review of change orders in the preparation of construction documents.
- Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, including physical walk-through of site.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
