Job Description
This position involves assisting in the design and documentation of electrical systems such as lighting, power, communication, and fire alarm systems under the supervision of a licensed engineer, primarily for construction and renovation projects across various sectors. The role includes site visits, technical drawing preparation, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design lighting, power distribution, communication, telecommunications, and fire alarm systems under supervision
- Prepare technical design documentation
- Review and markup shop drawing submittals
- Produce quality drawings following instructions and red lines
- Recommend process, quality, and coordination improvements
- Visit job sites to verify conditions and observe construction progress
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required by hire date
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program preferred
- Related student internship work experience preferred
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training) or FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification preferred
- Must have strong communication, teamwork, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
- Experience in computer applications for engineering design programs such as Revit, Navisworks or similar applications preferred
- Ability to visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress, which may require physical walk-through of the site
