Job Description
This role involves providing strategic business development leadership within a regional or national market practice, focusing on client engagement, opportunity identification, and growth initiatives for CannonDesign, with an emphasis on Living-Centered Design and market expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support business development activities to achieve top-line growth and secure new client opportunities.
- Identify and pursue new client leads and project opportunities regionally and firm-wide.
- Develop and implement strategic pursuit plans, including pre-positioning and intelligence gathering.
- Manage and maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities, ensuring pipeline size exceeds three times the annual net signed fee.
- Lead and facilitate client engagement meetings with Market and Client Leaders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and execute marketing and business plans, including budget management.
- Build and strengthen internal and external networks within core markets, practices, and service lines.
- Support and lead pursuit, proposal, and interview activities with strategic input.
- Champion and implement best practices for client pursuit and retention strategies across the firm.
- Strengthen the firm’s brand presence in the marketplace and promote Living-Centered Design principles.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of related work experience required.
- 10 years related work experience is preferred, preferably in the architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry.
- Proven experience in the development and implementation of marketing business plans.
- A degree in marketing or a related field is preferred.
- Additional education and/or certifications or training is a plus.
- Proven track record of the ability to develop significant relationships that increase the opportunity pipeline.
- Business acumen and ability to develop, influence, and execute strategy is required.
- Strong ability to communicate authentically and respectfully is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
- Experience with CRM platforms, such as Salesforce, is a plus.
- Some travel is required.
