Job Description
This role involves performing building performance analysis, developing visual and detailed energy models, and providing expertise on high-performance building design to support project teams and clients across various markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform building performance analysis and produce graphical representations of results.
- Develop visual representations of energy consumption, thermal performance, daylighting, and other metrics.
- Conduct detailed energy and daylighting analyses to support design development.
- Manage documentation for LEED energy credits, energy code compliance, and performance rating systems.
- Research and improve performance modeling methodologies, workflows, and software.
- Provide client and project team leadership on multiple projects as a subject matter expert.
- Develop research, case studies, and white papers to present findings and recommendations.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in related field required.
- A minimum of 6 years of related experience required.
- Must be able to assist with data analysis, energy modeling, and visualization tools, and be familiar with A E C industry trends related to high performance buildings.
- Experience with EnergyPlus Openstudio, required.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE Standard 90.1, ASHRAE Standard 62.1, LEED Reference Guides, California Title 24, IECC, and other energy related codes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills are essential.
- Experience with developing building performance analysis and producing graphical representations of results for communication with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Developing detailed energy and daylighting analyses to complement early design simulations and feedback.
- Managing documentation for LEED energy credits, energy code compliance reports, and other performance rating systems.
- Researching performance modeling methodologies, workflows, and software to improve high-performance design solutions.
- Providing client and project team leadership for multiple projects.
- Serving as a subject matter expert to internal and external clients.
- Assisting in the production of narratives, approaches, and fees for project proposals.
- Experience with a broad range of building typologies, including healthcare, laboratory, office, and educational facilities (preferred).
- Experience with net-zero energy buildings and advanced metering technologies (preferred).
- Experience with computational design and programming languages such as Grasshopper, Python, or C (strongly desired).
- Experience with Climate Studio and Ladybug tools (strongly desired).
- Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI and R (strongly desired).
- Proficiency with BIM applications (a plus).
