The role involves performing building performance analysis, developing visualizations and reports for high-performance design projects, and providing expertise on energy modeling, sustainability certifications, and building performance metrics within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Perform building performance analysis and create graphical representations for communication with project teams.
Develop visualizations of building energy consumption, thermal performance, daylighting, glare, thermal comfort, renewable energy, climate, massing, and orientation.
Conduct detailed energy and daylighting analyses to support early design stages and provide feedback.
Manage documentation for LEED energy credits, energy code compliance reports, and other performance rating systems.
Research and improve performance modeling methodologies, workflows, and software tools.
Provide leadership and subject matter expertise to clients and project teams across multiple projects.
Develop research, case studies, and white papers to present findings and recommendations.
Requirements
Bachelor degree in related field required
A minimum of 6 years of related experience required
Must be able to assist with data analysis, energy modeling, and visualization tools, and be familiar with A E C industry trends related to high performance buildings
Experience with EnergyPlus Openstudio, required
Familiarity with ASHRAE Standard 90.1, ASHRAE Standard 62.1, LEED Reference Guides, California Title 24, IECC, and other energy related codes
Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills are essential
LEED, CPHC D, BEMP or similar certification is strongly desired
Experience with net-zero energy buildings and advanced metering technologies is preferred
Experience with a broad range of building typologies, including healthcare, laboratory, office, and educational facilities is preferred
Proficiency with BIM applications is a plus
Experience with EnergyPlus Openstudio, required
Experience with other building energy modeling software such as IES-VE, eQuest, is a plus
Familiarity in computational design and programming languages such as Grasshopper, Python, or C is strongly desired
Experience in Climate Studio and Ladybug tools strongly desired
Familiarity in data visualization tools such as PowerBI and R strongly desired
